Title 1 

Title 1 is an educational program designed to intervene with children who need help with reading/math in their early years in school.  Each participating school develops a partnership between parents and teachers to determine the educational goals and needs of the building, identify at risk students, implement the program and evaluate the results.The goal of the School Wide Title 1 Program at Blanchester Local School District is to provide opportunities for all children to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to meet the state's grade level performance standards and to be successful and enthusiastic learners.  Currently, buildings where Title 1 funds are utilized are Putman Elementary School and Blanchester Intermediate School. Title 1 funding is used for providing paraprofessional to assist with student intervention, instructional materials, professional development, parent activities, and other resources that would not be available otherwise.

Parent Right to Know: Teacher Qualifications

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) states that parents of students in schools participating in a Title I program may request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher, including the following:

• Whether the teacher has met the Ohio teacher licensing criteria for the grad e level and subject areas in which the teacher provides your child’s instruction

• Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status that waives state licensing requirements

• The college degree major of the teacher and any other graduate degree or certification.

Whether your child is provided services by instructional paraprofessionals (sometimes called teacher’s aides) and their qualifications. Parents who wish to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher may contact Raechel Purdon at 937-783-3523.
